At some of the properties, hunting activity is carried out, usually through contracts with hunting companies. The Royal Hunting Ground is a walled area of about 1,500 hectares, dominated by cork oak and holm oak, with a large population of red deer and a smaller number of fallow deer. Inside, foxes, wild boars, mongooses and badgers can be found, as well as partridges, hoopoes, white storks, bee-eaters and various species of birds of prey.
The agricultural and forestry properties of the FCB are located in Alentejo, distributed across 13 municipalities, and also in the municipalities of Ourém and Esposende. The highest concentration occurs in the municipality of Vendas Novas, followed by the municipalities of Estremoz and Portel.
The Foundation has a very strong agricultural component, with one of the most significant portions of its revenues coming from forestry, and mainly from cork.
